It turns out that there are public services like <A HREF="http://www.bidnapper.com/BN-ABfeatures-1b.php" REL="nofollow">Bidnapper</A> and <A HREF="http://www.auctionsniper.com/products.aspx" REL="nofollow">AuctionSniper</A> which perform "group bidding" (as they call it). The market indicates that some eBay customers want services like that. Telling ebay what auctions you are willing to pay for and having them place the bids until you win.
